Safety & Equipment

As a USA / Heads Up Football program, safety is of the upmost importance to HWGYF and as such we purchase and provide the best equipment possible for our program.  Equipment will be issued to each player prior to the start of the first practice.  It is the responsibility of each parent to ensure their player(s) attend the appropriate ‘Fit Night’ at the Boys Scout Barn in Wenham to pick up equipment and get properly fitted.  In fairness to our volunteers’ time, please make every effort to attend the regularly scheduled fit night for your child's team.  Please contact the HWGYF equipment manager with any questions.

HWGYF Provided Equipment:
  • Helmet
  • Shoulder Pads
  • Game Jersey and Pants
  • Practice Jersey and Pants (with pads)
  • Game Socks
  • Belt
  • Mouthguard
Family Provided Equipment:
  • Cleats (molded and hard plastic only - no screw in cleats)
  • Padded Girdle
  • Athletic Cup

EQUIPMENT FIT NIGHT: Email instructions will be forwarded to families in advance to reserve time slots

OPENING PRACTICE: Players should wear shorts, T shirts, football cleats and a helmet the first two days of practice.  After that, players should be in full practice uniform equipment. Game pants and game shirts may not be worn at practices!

EQUIPMENT RETURN:  All HWGYF provided equipment must be returned at the end of the season on scheduled equipment return nights.  Families who do not return their equipment timely will be charged for the full cost of the replacement items.
